GROTON, NY (607NewsNow) — A 73-year-old man is dead after a house fire in Groton. 

State Police say members of the Groton Fire Department tried entering the burning home on Sovocool Hill Road shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday when they learned someone was still inside. The body of Gary Hendrix was found.

Troopers say a 69-year-old woman escaped out a window and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
