VIRGIL, NY (607NewsNow) — Greek Peak Mountain Resort has announced a $3 million capital investment plan that will expand its snowmaking capabilities and infrastructure on the mountain.

Originally a 4-year long snow-making plan, the project for ‘Greek Peak East’ will launch immediately upon the current ski season’s conclusion, looking to finish the project in time for the start of the 2026-27 season.

The project will include the installation of 250 new HKD semi-automated snow guns, increasing production of high-quality snow efficiently across the mountain. In addition, Greek Peak will install a new 450 horsepower water pump, boosting total water capacity by approximately 20%.

33,000 feet of new snowmaking pipeline will be installed, allowing snowmaking coverage to expand to several additional trails on the eastside of the mountain, including:

  • Arcadian Gate
  • Lower Arcadian Gate
  • Crisaean Way
  • Arethusa Way
  • Mars Hill Connection
  • Upper Mars Hill
  • Marathon
  • Upper Pollux
  • Olympian
  • Alpha

“Snowmaking is the heart of our winter operation,” said Wes Kryger, President of Greek Peak Mountain Resort. “This was originally a four-year plan being accelerated into a one-year plan, and it represents one of the most aggressive infrastructure upgrades in our resort’s history. It not only increases our efficiency and sustainability but ensures guests can count on top-tier conditions season after season.”

“Our goal is simple deliver the best skiing and riding experience possible. This investment reinforces our mission to be the top regional ski destination that is expected of Central New York’s Home Mountain,” Kryger added.
