NEWARK VALLEY, NY (CortacaToday) – Several empty buildings in Newark Valley are being repurposed.

The village has been awarded nearly $750,000 to transform three vacant buildings on Whig Street and Main Street into a mix of housing and commercial space. The money comes from the state’s RestoreNY program, which rehabilitates aging or dilapidated structures into viable properties.

Elsewhere in Tioga County, a $165,000 grant will aid the redevelopment of a mixed-use building at 81 North Avenue in Owego.

The City of Ithaca also received a $1.89 million grant for similar projects.
