ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is responding to federal funding cuts at Cornell.
On April 8, Cornell President Michael Kotlikoff announced that the school received over 75 stop-work orders related to defense, cybersecurity, and health research. In March, Cornell was among 60 schools issued letters by the U.S. Department of Education threatening research dollars if schools didn’t address antisemitism on campus.
Gillibrand says the funding cuts don’t address the Trump Administration’s stated objectives, and Cornell’s research across multiple fields is vital to the planet.
Earlier this week, a New York Times report claimed the Trump Administration is withholding $1 billion in research funding from the school, though Big Red officials have not confirmed that number.
