FREEVILLE, NY (607NewsNow) — On Saturday, September 12th, the 50th Freeville Harvest Festival will return to the Freeville’s Main Street.
Hosted by the Freeville United Methodist Church, the festival begins at 9:30 a.m. with a recognition ceremony for the Freeville Fire Department and local first responders. Breakfast sandwiches and coffee will be available in the morning, while a chicken barbeque, hot dogs, and homemade pie by the slice will be offered starting at 11:00 a.m.
The live music and entertainment schedule is as follows:
- 10:00 AM – Lisa Gayle, Dance Movement Therapy
- 10:30 AM – Kids Parade (Theme: Harvest Vegetable)
- 11:00 AM – Storytime with Southworth Library featuring special guest Bluey
- 11:00 AM–1:00 PM – Face painting, kids crafts and games, blessing of the animals, and hands‑on activities with the Fire Department
- 12:00 PM – The Rose Alaimo Trio
- 1:00 PM – Premium Blend, Ithaca College’s all‑female a cappella group
A community collection in honor of Nancy Carver, the Nancy Carver Day of Sharing & Caring, will also be held throughout the duration of the festival. Carver was a longtime resident of Freeville who completed decades of volunteer work and is remembered as “a woman whose kindness left a lasting imprint on all who knew her,” according to the Freeville Harvest Festival promotional flyer. Personal care items for the Women’s Opportunity Center in Ithaca will be collected to honor her memory, including:
- Soap and body wash
- Toothbrushes and toothpaste
- Deodorant
- Diapers
- Baby wipes
- Other essential hygiene items
