FREEVILLE, NY (607NewsNow) – No injuries were reported after a fire in Freeville.

On April 17, firefighters responded to a Main Street apartment building in the village just after lunchtime. Arriving units found smoky conditions in the reporting party’s kitchen, and all residents and pets were quickly evacuated. The source of the fire was located in a downstairs apartment kitchen and extinguished.

In a Facebook post, Freeville Fire Department Chief Michael Parker says they were able to contain the blaze from spreading in the older structure. The cause remains under investigation.

Firefighters from departments in Dryden, Groton, Lansing, McClean, Varna, and Cortlandville responded for mutual aid.
