FREEVILLE, NY (607NewsNow) – The Freeville Fire Department is mourning the loss of a long-time member.

On April 26, fourth-generation firefighter Chad Parker passed away at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania.

The 55-year-old joined the Freeville Fire Department in 1988 and served in multiple roles, including a member of the Board of Directors, until this year.

In a Facebook post, colleagues say Parker was a hero who loved his family and helping the community. Calling hours will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, at Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden. A celebration of life will follow at the Freeville Fire Station at 21 Union Street in Freeville.
