ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Flu season is peaking in Tompkins County.

The Whole Health office says the county has seen 98 new positive cases of the flu in the past seven days. It’s the most amount of flu cases so far this season.

COVID-19 cases are also on the rise countywide, with 17 new cases in the last week.  According to the Tompkins County Whole Health Department, “Seasonal trends indicate that cases of COVID-19 tend to spike in early spring, as well as early fall.” Officials encourage adults 65 and over, or anyone “moderately to severely immune compromised,” to get the latest vaccine.
