CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – Central New York is feeling the impact of rain and snowmelt.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood warning for the Tioughnioga River in Cortland, which could lead to closures along Kellog Road south of the city. Forecasters say flooding will likely be minimal, and water levels should drop below the flood level later tonight. Officials remind motorists not to drive around barricades or through flooded areas.
A Cortland update will be posted on the NWS website at 11 p.m.
An active flood warning is also in effect in Cayuga County, affecting Locke, Moravia, Cascade, and Fillmore Glen State Park. The NWS says flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is likely. The warning remains in effect until 9 p.m.
