ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — A restaurant in Ithaca is currently closed after a fire.

Crews responded to Wendy’s on Elmira Road around 6 a.m. today. Authorities say employees evacuated the building after the deep fryer caught fire.

Crews fought the flames for about 30 minutes before the situation was under control. One firefighter suffered a minor injury.

Authorities describe the building’s damage as “substantial.”
