ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) -The Ithaca-based Finger Lakes Land Trust (FLLT) continues to protect regional lands.

The Finger Lakes Land Trust has acquired 38 acres in Richmond and South Bristol in Ontario County. It will be added to the Wesley Hill Nature Preserve near the southern end of Honeoye Lake. The Land Trust now has 428 acres of conserved lands near the lake to help maintain water quality and animal habitats.

The Wesley Hill Preserve is located in an Audobon-designated Important Bird Area near the Cumming Nature Center, Honeoye Inlet Wildlife Management Area, and the Harriet Hollister Spencer State Recreation Area. FLLT says all of this land is part of a proposed project called the Hemlock to High Tor Greenway, which would create a conservation corridor from Hemlock Lake to the High Tor Wildlife Management Area near the southeastern shore of Canandaigua Lake.
