CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — Cortland Fire officials are tracking down the cause of a business blaze.
It happened shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday evening at Contento’s on Pendleton Street. Deputy Chief Derek Reynolds says he saw smoke and flames at the site’s refrigerating reclaiming area.
Nobody was injured and surrounding structures were untouched. Reynolds says a combination of strong thunderstorms and a small space made it difficult to remove smoke from the structure. Damages are estimated at $25,000.
Investigators believe a faulty appliance caused the fire, which they’re still probing.
