DRYDEN, NY (607NewsNow) – A fire in Tompkins County is under investigation.

On April 1, multiple agencies, including the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, were called to the 300 block of Cortland Road in the Town of Dryden for a structure fire.

According to Sheriff Derek Osborne, the home was completely engulfed when first responders arrived shortly after 10 a.m. Osborne adds it’s believed that some people were unable to exit the building and likely died as a result.

As of 2 p.m., crews are still working on the fire. Once the property can be safely entered, further investigation will continue.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
