CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — Money is being raised for a family in Cortland County.
A GoFundMe page was set up for the family of Alayna Race, the 16-year-old Cortland High School student who died last weekend. A family member tells WHCU her death was unexpected, and their $20,000 goal covers the cost of a funeral. As of 4:45 a.m. Thursday, the family has raised over 40% toward their goal.
According to State Police, Race was found unresponsive at a house in McGraw on Saturday, July 26th. She was pronounced dead at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. A cause of death is still being determined. The Cortland Enlarged City School District has been providing counseling services for grieving students.
