CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) – Some Cortland residents and businesses have a new option for internet service.
According to a company spokesperson, a high-speed fiber network from Empire Access is now available to over 2200 addresses in and around the city. Cortland Common Council members approved an agreement with Empire Access in May.
Originally slated to be ready in 2023, the Prattsburgh-based company says service areas will grow as construction of the fiber buildout continues.
“Our goal is to provide communities like Cortland with the right tools to help advance their online capabilities and empower residents and businesses with the gold standard of modern internet,” said Empire Access CEO Kevin Dickens. “We’re reaching these communities to provide internet and a full stack of services which they might not have access to otherwise. We’re excited to officially join Cortland’s community and offer our services.”
The company, which also offers phone, streaming, and security services, says the fiber network buildout is expected to be complete by early Spring 2025.
