ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) – A recall on Dynacare Baby Powder products has expanded to include products distributed in New York.

The Dynarex Corporation announced this week it is voluntarily pulling more batches back, expanding on a recall that was issued in September.  After routine sampling from the FDA, a possible asbestos contamination was confirmed.

According to a statement from the FDA, asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that is often found near talc. However, if talc mining sites are not carefully selected or the talc ore is not adequality purified, it could contain asbestos, a harmful carcinogen.

The baby powder was distributed in 14 oz. and 4 oz. bottles to retailers in 35 states and through Amazon. The batch number, manufacturing date, and expiration date are located on the bottom of the bottle, and on the cardboard cases they were shipped in. Customers who have purchased affected Dynacare Baby Powder products should immediately stop using it and return it for a full refund.
