DRYDEN, NY (CortacaToday) — Dryden’s Freese Road bridge remains closed.
State officials gave the century-old bridge a red flag in December 2021 and ordered it closed to all traffic. Work to replace the bridge connecting the town with Varna is slated to begin next year, says Dryden deputy town supervisor Dan Lamb.
Meantime, a pedestrian bridge over Route 13 is closer to reality. Lamb says the bridge will connect the Rail Trail on Route 366 in Varna toward Cornell with the Etna and Freeville area.
Lamb says the bridge is prefabbed and will require a 1-day closure of Route 13 next year for installation.
