WATKINS GLEN, NY (CortacaToday) – A pet has returned home after extensive treatment from a house fire.
Diesel the dog is back with family and expected to fully recover after being trapped in a Watkins Glen blaze on August 11, 2024. Personnel limited the structural damage in the fire and rescued Diesel, who was home alone and found unresponsive. He was revived with oxygen and CPR. Diesel spent four days in the vet hospital, including significant time in an oxygen chamber for smoke inhalation.

In a Facebook post, the pup’s owners thanked Watkins Glen Fire and Rescue, the Cornell Vet Hospital, and the community for their support. So far, nearly $3,500 has been raised for vet bills in a GoFundMe campaign.
