CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) — Railroad tracks in Cortland are in the crosshairs.
The Board of Public Works is suggesting removing the tracks on Tompkins Street and Delaware Avenue. Mayor Scott Steve says it’s a safety issue.
Meantime, Mayor Steve wants to reduce truck traffic. Steve says the idea would re-route trucks away from Tompkins and Port Watson Streets to protect those roads and bridge.
The mayor adds that bridge isn’t designed to support heavy trucks. He’s also worried about traffic impacts on Main Street.
Both requests have been sent to the New York State Department of Transportation for approval.
