CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – A Cortland man has been sentenced in connection with the death of his son.

The Cortland Voice reports David Storie, who pled guilty to second-degree manslaughter in September, was given 5 years of probation in court on January 2. His son Brandon, who had muscular dystrophy and schizophrenia, was found dead in the family’s Main Street home in October of 2023.

According to court documents, David Storie and his other sons ‘failed to properly care’ for Brandon, whose death was ruled a homicide after an autopsy.

Michael and Nicholas Storie each received a year of interim probation for misdemeanor first-degree endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disable person. The pair are set to return to court for resentencing in June of this year.
