HOMER, NY (607NewsNow) — A Cortland man is charged after a shooting last week. 

Homer Police Chief Robert Pitman says Joseph Spruill targeted the victim last Wednesday and shot them on Hudson Street. The 54-year-old is charged with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, criminal use of a firearm, and two separate counts of criminal possession of a weapon. All the charges are felonies.

The 44-year-old victim, whose name has not been released, was reportedly shot in the leg. Pitman adds that Spruill was last known to be in or around New York City, where he fled after the shooting.
