CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – One person is recovering, and another is facing charges after an alleged stabbing in Cortland.
On January 4, Cortland Police arrested 33-year-old Dillin Wilcox and charged him with felony assault, felony criminal possession of a weapon, and misdemeanor resisting arrest.
The previous day, officers were called to Ollie’s parking lot on Clinton Avenue for a reported assault. Responding units found an adult male victim with a stab wound to the chest. They provided emergency aid until EMTs arrived on scene. The victim was taken to Upstate University Hospital for treatment and later listed in stable condition.
The investigation determined the alleged assault occurred earlier in the day outside the Salvation Army on Main Street. After reviewing surveillance footage and witness statements, deputies say the victim was involved in a fight with multiple people before his stabbing.
Wilcox was located on Sunday near Charles Street and taken into custody after a brief foot chase. He’s being held in Cortland County Jail to appear in Cortland City Court on January 14.
