CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — A housing structure in Cortland is damaged after a fire. 

Crews were called to a multi-family residence on Riverview Avenue around 12:40 Saturday morning. Firefighters determined the fire was contained to the basement with flames emerging through the floor heat register.

Officials say the building’s electrical, gas, and water systems were damaged, and the home’s living area was damaged by smoke.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
