CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) — Cortland firefighters became temporary surgeon assistants.

A power outage was reported around 11:15 Monday morning at CNY SNAP on Saulsberry Street. First responders learned that the outage came in the middle of surgery for a recently rescued three-year-old boxer named Zoey.

Crews used the facility’s onboard generator power to provide temporary power and lights so the surgery could continue.

The surgery was a success, and Zoey was reunited with her family.
