CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — A person’s life was saved in Cortland.

911 received a call a little before 8 p.m. Friday, but the dispatcher lost contact with the patient. Cortland Fire crews were alerted that the caller was possibly suffering from cardiac arrest. CPR was performed, and a defibrillator was used twice before the patient regained consciousness and a pulse. Those quick, life-saving techniques are credited with saving the person’s life.

According to the Cortland Fire Department on Facebook, their “dedication to patient care is evident by their assistance in sending an ALS provider to accompany the patient to Syracuse, ensuring a seamless transition to a higher level of care.”
