CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — Cortland County wants to beef up access to broadband.
Legislative Chair Kevin Fitch tells WHCU the county agreed last year to contribute $3 million to a project expanding internet access but recently hit a snag.
A resolution to withdraw from the agreement with the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board failed last week and Fitch says the county is moving forward on the deal.
During a special legislative meeting last week, Fitch says their worries were eased.
In 2024, the legislature agreed on a financial contribution to a regional project with Cayuga County to build broadband infrastructure by the end of 2026.
