CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) — Flags are being lowered in Cortland County.
Officials say the tribute is in honor of former state Senator Jim Seward, who passed away over the weekend. During Seward’s 33-year career in Albany, he represented Cortland, Tompkins, and Cayuga counties.
“This gesture is a small token of our immense gratitude and respect for a man who dedicated his life to the betterment of others,” officials said in a statement. “We extend our deepest condolences to Senator Seward’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. We share in their grief and join them in celebrating the life of a remarkable individual who touched so many lives through his work and kindness.”
Flags will fly at half-staff for 30 days.
