CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — Cortland County is considering implementing a hiring freeze.
A proposed resolution would pause hiring for all agencies and departments until June 30. Exceptions would apply for corrections officers, seasonal workers, and a new director for the Office for Aging.
According to the resolution, rising operational costs and unfunded state mandates are causing “significant financial pressures.”
County legislators will meet at 6 p.m. on April 24 to vote on approving the freeze.
Elsewhere in the region, Cornell is currently under a hiring pause.
