CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) – A donation will benefit two local members of local law enforcement.
K9 Officers Rhett and Dex, of the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, will be outfitted with bullet and stab protective vests in the coming months to keep them safe in the line of duty. The body armor comes from Vested Interest in K9s Incorporated, and the Conway Family of Linden, New Jersey.

K9 Rhett’s vest, from the Conway Family, will be embroidered with the message “In memory of Sgt. Keith Conway.” K9 Dex’s vest, sponsored by Vested Interest in K9s, will be embroidered with “In memory of Sgt. Meagan Burke.”

Vested Interest in K9s Inc. is a non-profit that has provided over 5,700 vests valued at nearly $7 million since 2009, primarily from private and corporate donations. The body armor weighs 4-5 lbs., is valued at $1,800, and comes with a 5-year warranty. All donations are tax-deductible, and $985 sponsors one vest.
