CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) — This year’s Cortland County Junior Fair, starting on Tuesday July 9th and ending July 13th, will be five days packed with activities for the whole family.

Started in 1953, the fair was created during a time when the county fair was closed due to a lack of funding, according to the Cortland County Junior Fair website. Children in the county needed a way to be able to show their animals so they could move on to the State Fair, which created the agricultural education focused Cortland County Junior Fair that has been around ever since.

The fair itself has plenty to keep everyone busy, including rides, an animal costume contest, barnyard olympics, fair foods, various livestock shows, live music, tractor pulls, a fireworks show, and much more. To see the full itinerary, take a look at the Cortland County Junior Fair website.

Located on the Cortland County Fairgrounds, there will be plenty of room to explore what the fair has to offer for people of all ages.
