CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) — SUNY Cortland’s football staff is reflecting on the Cortaca Jug.

The Red Dragons trailed Ithaca College early, but pulled away late for a 28 to 17 win. Cortland Head Coach Curt Fitzpatrick said he’s proud of how his players responded.

“We didn’t really flinch,” he said. “I thought our defense settled in nicely.”

Fitzpatrick said controlling the time of possession was key in keeping the defense fresh. The Red Dragons kept the clock moving with 54 rushing attempts.

“Ithaca plays such good pass defense,” Fitzpatrick said. “They did a nice job in coverage.”

The loss ended Ithaca’s season. Cortland next plays on Nov. 30 against either Alfred State or Endicott.
