ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – More details are emerging about the future of Big Lots stores.
The company narrowly avoided total closure last month by striking a deal with Gordon Brothers Retail Partners, who agreed to acquire 2 distribution centers and up to 400 of Big Lots’ 963 remaining locations to be transferred to Variety Wholesalers.
According to USA Today, building leases for the remaining stores were put up for sale, which could signify that they will close. Texas led the way with 72 stores listed, followed by New York at 49. Among those listed were locations in Cortland, Elmira, and Auburn. Gordon Brothers accepted offers through January 24.
