ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) – Cornell and the United Auto Workers Local 2300 are in negotiations.
According to the Tompkins County Workers’ Center, the University has asked UAW representatives back to the negotiating table to work out a new employment contract. Meantime, picket lines continue in and around the area until 7 p.m. Employees are set up at Tops grocery store near the Shops at Ithaca Mall, the West and University Avenue triangle, the corner of Triphammer Road and Jessup Road, Day Hall, Hoy Tower, and other spots on campus.
Nearly 1200 workers, mostly in dining and maintenance, went on strike late Sunday night for better wages and safety benefits.
