ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Saturday is Flag Day.
On June 14, the Tompkins County Public Library will host a non-partisan reading of the Constitution and its Amendments in Ithaca from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Several local officials will participate, including Ithaca Mayor Robert Cantelmo, former Tompkins County Legislator and current Interim Library Director Susan Currie, and Interim Tompkins County Historian Carol Kammen.
Tompkins County Legislative Chair Dan Klein will also be among them, rain or shine.
Anyone is invited to take a turn reading, but the library asks attendees to leave political demonstration material at home.
Free pocket Constitutions will be available, and there will be a scroll to sign for people who wish to mark their presence at the event.
Library officials say the community reading is “a chance to gather and reflect on the rule of law during a time of urgency and upheaval.”
