ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) – The Citizen Preparedness Corps (CPC) equips community members with essential tools and resources to effectively prepare for, respond to, and recover from various disasters and emergencies.
The next training session in Tompkins County is scheduled for Wednesday at the Dryden Fire Department, located at 26 North Street on November 13th at 6:00 p.m.
Led by members of the New York National Guard in collaboration with experts from the state Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES), these trainings are coordinated alongside local emergency management officials.
“With severe weather events becoming more frequent and more extreme, it’s more important than ever to be prepared for disasters,” stated Geoff Dunn, Community Preparedness Coordinator for Tompkins County Emergency Response. “This is a great opportunity to learn how to properly develop family emergency plans and stock up on supplies.”
A significant aspect of the CPC training is the distribution of NYS Disaster Preparedness Kits to participants (one kit per household). The training is provided at no cost, but attendees must register in advance at www.prepare.ny.gov.
