CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) — A domestic violence case has ended with a conviction.
Cortland County District Attorney Patrick Perfetti says Jason Rice accepted a plea deal in the 11th hour. On Tuesday, the 47-year-old pleaded guilty to a felony charge of criminal contempt. Perfetti says Rice violated a protection order by entering his wife’s home and damaging property during a dispute.
“Domestic violence is a bane to our communities and to the families who must endure it,” Perfetti said in a statement. “My office is committed to providing diversion resources to these offenders; however, where defendants refuse to engage with counseling to correct behaviors, prosecution remains the only option.”
Rice gets sentenced in January.
