LEDYARD, NY (607NewsNow) – A Cayuga County man faces multiple charges.

On December 19, Sheriff’s deputies attempted to execute a parole absconder warrant and a warrant for aggravated criminal contempt on Justin Jones, of Ledyard. The 39-year-old was located inside a pickup truck in a closed garage and told authorities he would not comply.

Jones allegedly drove the pickup truck through the garage door to evade capture. Non-lethal munitions and a Taser were unsuccessfully deployed. Jones damaged a patrol car and sped off, ultimately getting stuck in a field before fleeing into a wooded area on foot.

Using a drone, police located Jones in an area of heavy brush. He was injured from allegedly falling out of a tree stand he climbed during the pursuit and was found in possession of methamphetamine. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. New York State Parole maintained custody during his hospitalization, and he was arrested on Monday.

Jones racked up four additional charges during the ordeal, including felony criminal mischief, misdemeanor resisting arrest, and misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He’s being held in Cayuga County Jail without bail.
