LANSING, NY (CortacaToday) — Layoffs are coming to the Cargill mine in Lansing.

One shift is being eliminated, which translates to the loss of 25 jobs. 14850.com reports the reduction is the result of lower demand for road salt after some milder winters. The staffing changes are expected in October.

Tompkins County Legislator Mike Sigler, who represents Lansing, says Cargill will offer placement or severance for the affected workers.
