LANSING, NY (CortacaToday) — BorgWarner workers are on strike.

The Ithaca Voice reports employees at the Lansing plant rejected a new contract offer on Friday, and a strike began shortly after midnight Monday morning. The plant is scheduled for a partial closure in early 2026.

In a statement, Teamsters Local 317 says market-driven adjustments are more important to company officials than respecting a workforce that generated some 14 billion dollars in revenue. “A slap in the face, Last Best and Final Offer was given to Teamster Local 317 members, which includes a vast erosion of standards and current conditions,’ said a statement on the union’s website.

Tompkins County Legislator Mike Sigler, who represents Lansing, says the workers “deserve a wage that supports their families and respect from the company.”

Teamers Local 317, based in Syracuse, represents about 700 employees at BorgWarner in Lansing.
