SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (607NewsNow) — A prestigious event will return to Upstate New York next year.

The Belmont Stakes will once again be held in Saratoga Springs. The horse racing festival normally takes place at Belmont Park on Long Island, though ongoing renovations at the venue have pushed the event to Saratoga the past two years.

According to the New York Racing Association, over 46,000 people attended the festival on June 7. The standout horse was Sovereignty, who galloped past Journalism in a rematch of the Kentucky Derby.
