BATH, NY (607NewsNow) — A baby was saved from falling in the village of Bath.

Police say the 10-month-old crawled out an open second-story window Sunday morning and nearly got on the roof. According to a news release from the Village of Bath Police Department, a neighbor “was able to run to the house and climb up onto the roof, saving the baby from falling.” 38-year-old Joseph Bennett and 30-year-old Destiny Smith were home at the time, and police charged them with felony reckless endangering and two counts of misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

In addition, Bath village police say two dogs in the apartment had inadequate food and water and are now under the care of animal rescue services. Children in the Chestnut St. apartment are “in the care of a safe third party,” police said.
