LANSING, NY (607NewsNow) — Lansing could see a new lunchtime spot.

Fittnell Barbeque is looking to set up shop on Seacord Lane. Owner Jacob Marnell said the restaurant would have traditional Texas-style counter service.

Customers would be able to order smoked meats like brisket and ribs. Marnell said the food would be fresh.

“We never reheat to reserve,” he said.

The business has been running for several years in the Ithaca area, appearing at pop-up events and operating as a food truck. Marnell said the property on Seacord Lane fits the vision for a barbeque establishment.

“You can come enjoy a meal, relax for a little bit, and move on,” he said.

The town’s Planning Board is considering approval. Board member Larry Sharpsteen is concerned the business would be in a residential neighborhood.

“The residents of the area were kind of there first,” he said.

A public comment session will be held in January.
