AUBURN, NY (607NewsNow) – An Auburn man is accused of attacking a cop.
On July 21, Auburn Police officers on patrol initiated a traffic stop near North and York Streets around 4:15 p.m. after noticing a vehicle parked on the railroad tracks.
As officers approached, they say the driver, later identified as Chad McMillan, appeared to be “highly intoxicated.” The 48-year-old McMillan allegedly became combative during a field sobriety test and resisted arrest. During the scuffle, an officer fell onto a piece of wire attached to a “No Trespassing” sign, which caused his ear to “become partially detached from his head.”
McMillan was eventually taken into custody but refused to take a breathalyzer test. He was charged with felony assault on a police officer and misdemeanors of obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, and DWI.
The injured officer’s ear was later reconstructed at Upstate University Hospital.
