ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – An Ithaca eatery is receiving national recognition.
On December 3, a popular menu item from Asempe Kitchen was named as one of the Top 10 Vegan Soups and Stews in the United States by PETA. The winning dish, called Nkatsi Froyi, is described by PETA as a “velvety, West African-inspired stew that blends peanuts and a savory tomato base, seasoned with curry and other toasty spices.”

“Asempe Kitchen has created a delicious stew that’s kind to animals and provides comfort and warmth in each spoonful,” says PETA Founder Ingrid Newkirk. “Every winner on PETA’s awards list shows how easy it is to make a superb stew or soup that leaves animals in peace and keeps everyone feeling nicely nourished.”
The restaurant will receive a framed award from PETA. Located in Press Bay Court at 114 West Green Street, Asempe Kitchen is open Thursday through Sunday.
