ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – A new leader is coming to the Cornell Board of Trustees.
University officials say Anne Smalling has been elected as board chair. Smalling has been a trustee since 2017 and is the daughter of the late Peter Meinig, a famed alum, and a former board chair.
Smalling, CEO of the manufacturing and management company HM International in Texas, also heads the board’s Executive Committee. She recently co-chaired the search for the university’s newest provost, Kavita Bala, who replaced former provost Michael Kotlikoff.
“As an alumna, parent, benefactor and trustee, Anne has an unparalleled understanding of the university and is a staunch advocate for our mission and core values,” said Interim President Michael Kotlikoff. “Together with her family, Anne is among the university’s most engaged and generous supporters. She will be an excellent leader and ambassador for Cornell.
Outgoing Chair Kraig Kayser calls Smalling “an outstanding choice to lead the board in the years ahead.”
Smalling’s 3-year term begins on July 1.
