ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – An aggressive fox reported in Ithaca last week is confirmed to be rabid.
On July 16, the Tompkins County Whole Health Department announced that testing from a state lab came back positive.
Health officials say the captured fox is believed to be the same one that was captured in the Stone Quarry/Elmira Road area. The initial report suggested the animal was acting erratically and may have charged and bitten someone.
If you or your pet had contact with a fox in that part of the city, you are urged to contact the TCWH’s Environmental Health Division immediately at (607) 274-6688.
