Named in reference to the connection between Homer’s The Odyssey and Ithaca, Odyssey Bookstore aims to build a bond with the local community. Additionally, the bookstore provides the ability for local authors to spread their works through consignment deals. Autumn Leaves
Looking for a good deal? Autumn Leaves has been the go-to used bookstore of Ithaca for over thirty years. However, after being bought by PM Press, the store has recently started to include new books as well. For prospective customers, Autumn Leaves also shares a building with Angry Mom records, which stocks a wide selection of new and used records as well as used DVDs. Alphabet Soup
A treat for children, Alphabet Soup is technically a toy store, but that does not stop it from providing a solid selection of children’s books. Located in the center of the Ithaca Commons, Alphabet Soup has been shaping childhoods for the past forty years. Barnes & Noble
With hundreds of stores around the country, Barnes & Noble consistently provides a massive selection of books. Furthermore, Barnes & Noble serves as a place to do more than just buy books, with a cafe and seating for relaxing and reading, as well as a large selection of games, music, and movies. Buffalo Street Books
Buffalo Street Books has been a staple of the downtown Ithaca community for over thirty years. Originally opened as The Bookery II, a companion store to The Bookery which closed in 2019, Buffalo Street Books was officially renamed in 2009. Two years later, the bookstore would reopen as a community owned cooperative, cementing it as an important piece of Ithacan commercial culture.
