However, after being bought by PM Press, the store has recently started to include new books as well. Buffalo Street Books has been a staple of the downtown Ithaca community for over thirty years. Originally opened as The Bookery II, a companion store to The Bookery which closed in 2019, Buffalo Street Books was officially renamed in 2009. Two years later, the bookstore would reopen as a community owned cooperative, cementing it as an important piece of Ithacan commercial culture.
