ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Cornell is putting a freeze on hiring.

In a letter sent to faculty on Thursday, interim President Michael Kotlikoff said uncertainty about federal funding has resulted in a four-month freeze on new hires through the end of June. Kotlikoff cites potential slashes to research funding as one reason for the temporary freeze.

Earlier this month, President Trump signed an executive order that reduces funding for scientific research.

Stanford University is also pausing hiring.
