ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Funding for historic theaters across New York is part of the 2024 state budget.

Senator Lea Webb says the State Theatre of Ithaca will receive $103,000 to cover operational expenses. It’s part of a $5 million funding package to support theaters that’s part of the Alive Downtowns! Coalition.

Webb calls the State Theatre a “premiere destination for entertainment and culture in the Southern Tier.”

Another area theater included in the funding is the Smith Center for the Arts in Geneva.
