VAN ETTEN, N.Y. (WHCU) – A traffic stop in the Town of Van Etten has led to charges for a Tompkins County man.

Chemung County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle for traffic violations after a brief pursuit around 12:50 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities identified the passenger as 32-year-old Steven Park, of Brooktondale, who has a felony warrant for gun possession in Ithaca. A loaded handgun and rifle, meth, and pills were found in the vehicle. The guns allegedly belonged to Park.

Authorities say Park is a convicted felon with an ‘extensive criminal history’ and is prohibited from possessing a firearm. Park is charged with a felony for gun possession and misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance. He’s being held in Chemung County Jail on $100,000 cash bail.

The driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Sarah Brown of Waverly, is charged with misdemeanors for criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful fleeing a police officer.
